3.Marriage Preparation 
Aims:

• To promote and develop quality, education programmes for couples preparing for marriage. 

• To ensure that all couples contemplating marriage in Geraldton have access to a quality programme of marriage preparation on a parish or regional basis 

• To recruit, train and support individuals and couples willing to commit themselves to providing marriage education

Marriage Education Programs come in several different forms:

1.Questionnaires
FOCCUS questionnaire gives couples a one on one opportunity to look at their individual and couple needs with a trained facilitator. FOCCUS is a diagnostic instrument designed to help couples learn more about themselves and their unique relationship. It is not a test not meant as a predictor of success or failure in marriage. It is a tool to help couples name and work through issues before marriage.
Appointments are made for a time suitable to the couple.

2.Group Programs
These are offered for couples who enjoy learning with others. They are currently held three times a year in Geraldton. Look in the brochures section to find this year’s dates.When you come to any program you will look at some of the following topics and explore with your partner
•  Conflict Resolution
•  Personalities
•  Family of Origin
•  Sexuality and Natural; Family Planning
•  Money
•  Spirituality
You will be able to make comments if comfortable to do so, and benefit from new knowledge and skills The people who run the programs are warm and sensitive. They have a sense of humour and will quickly put you at ease.
 

This programme is funded through Centacare, participants’ contribution and the Diocese of Geraldton.
