8.Family Dispute
Resolution
Aims:
To provide couples who are separating with information and resources that will assist them to reduce the adversarial nature of the separation. This includes counselling, mediation and advocacy with parents for children.
To liaise with other relevant organisations to organise Information Sessions for separating families.
To provide a kit which details all the relevant resources for couples who are separating.
To provide educational programmes such as Seasons for Growth for parents and children of separating families.
To provide educational programmes for professional and other community members who work with families.
Centacare is an approved Organisation under the Family Law Act, which means that
information from counselling sessions is protected under Section 19N of the
Family Law Act (1975) and is not admissible in any court. This service is
subsidised by the Dept. of Family and Community Services. Clients also
contribute through donations.
This programme operates in Geraldton, Carnarvon and Exmouth.
